Team for Palace
|
Against Doncaster we saw good run-outs for several squad players and cameos for youngsters. While no one let the side down, it's unlikely that anyone would have caught the manager's eye sufficiently to break into the first choice eleven.
So barring injury or Covid I would expect it to be as you were for the visit to Palace on Tuesday. As for the bench, the question of cover for Antonio is the most interesting issue. The window only has just over a week to go and it looks increasingly unlikely that we will have a new striker by Feb 1st. So if Antonio feels his hamstring or needs a rest, will it be Yarmolenko, who did a decent but at times frustrating job yesterday. Or maybe Odubeko, who might have been playing against Doncaster but for a false negative Covid test. Or has Afolayan jumped the queue with his successful cameo performance?
Fabianski Coufal Dawson Ogbonna Cresswell Bowen Rice Soucek Fornals Benrahma Antonio
Subs: Randolph, Fredericks, Johnson, Balbuena, Diop, Noble, Yarmolenko, Lanzini, Odubeko.

Chigwell Fredricks almost lost the ball for the 4th goal and that's why he had to shoot, watch it again. He had yards of space but that ran out it and he rushed his shot, straight at the keeper from a few yards out. He pace comes into play when he's out of position and has to play catch up.He found his level. Move him on. We have better in Ashby,Johnson and Coufal plus Baptiste looks twice the player.

Same team as The Exile.
The subs bench picks itself as that is basically our entire first team squad other than an injured Masuaku.

Lanzini does have a good record against Palace scoring four times against them, including two winning goals at Selhurst.

Lanzini was poor against WBA and not much better against Doncaster, Benrahma was better in both games.

I hate games against palace - they are so dull as a team. At least the pace and running of Antonio should make a difference compared to the home game against them
Agreed with the OPs team. At least we have 7 players coming back who had a bit of a rest!

Think the teamoriganl post said. Think Lanzini was brought in for the WBA as they would sit back and Moyes hoped his trickery would open them up.
